Refund policy
At Used Engine Expert LLC, we want you to feel confident about your purchase. This policy explains exactly what happens if something is wrong with your unit, if it fails during the warranty period, or if you decide to cancel. Our aim is simple: if the fault is ours, you pay nothing.
1. 7-DAY RETURN WINDOW
You have 7 days from the date of delivery to request a return.
If your unit is defective, broken, or not as described, you receive a full refund. No restocking fee, and we pay the freight in both directions. You are never out of pocket for our mistake.
To be eligible, the part must be uninstalled and unmodified, in the same condition in which it was delivered. Once a part has been installed it can no longer be returned, but it is covered by the warranty in Section 2.
How to start a return: email support@usedengineexpert.com or call (859) 800-5484. We will respond within 1 to 2 business days with instructions and, where applicable, a prepaid freight label.
2. WARRANTY
Every engine and transmission we sell is covered by a standard warranty at no additional cost:
- Vehicles 1991 to 2000 — 3 months
- Vehicles 2001 and newer — 6 months
If anything goes wrong with your unit within the warranty period, you receive a replacement unit of the same specification at no additional charge. There is no mileage cap during the warranty term.
Freight on a warranty claim is covered by us — both the return of the original unit and the delivery of the replacement.
The warranty covers internal components. Labor, towing, and indirect or consequential damages are not covered. Installation must be performed by an ASE-certified mechanic, and improper installation, overheating, or insufficient lubrication will void coverage. Full terms are set out on our Warranty Policy page.
3. CANCELLATIONS AND NO-FAULT RETURNS
Preparing a unit involves real cost before it ever reaches you. It is pulled, dismantled, tested, photographed and palletized. When an order is cancelled through no fault of ours, that work has already been spent.
- Within 24 hours of ordering: cancel for a full refund with no fee.
- After 24 hours, before shipment: a 20% restocking fee applies.
- After shipment: a 20% restocking fee plus round-trip freight applies.
On a no-fault cancellation or return, freight is the customer's responsibility. This does not apply to defective units or warranty claims, which are covered entirely by us.
To cancel, email support@usedengineexpert.com.
4. REFUND PROCESSING
Once your returned unit reaches our facility it is inspected by our technicians.
- Inspection and approval: 2 to 3 business days
- Internal processing: 5 to 7 business days
- Bank posting: a further 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank
- Total estimated timeframe: approximately 10 to 15 business days
Refunds are issued to the original payment method — credit or debit card, PayPal, or wire transfer.
5. PHOTO APPROVAL BEFORE SHIPPING
Every order is photographed and approved by you before it ships. After your order is placed we dismantle, inspect and photograph your exact unit and send you the images. No approval from you, no shipment. If you are not satisfied with what you see, you receive a 100% refund with no questions asked. This is standard on every order and there is no charge for it.
6. CORE CHARGES
We do not charge a core fee, and we do not require your old unit back. You keep your old engine or transmission. There is no core deposit, no core return, and no core deadline.
A small number of very large engines do carry a core charge. Where that applies, it is quoted to you specifically and in writing at the time of your quote, before you buy. It will never appear as a surprise at checkout.
7. RECEIVING YOUR DELIVERY
Please inspect your shipment before signing the delivery receipt. If you see any damage to the packaging or the unit, note it on the driver's paperwork and photograph it — that documentation makes any claim straightforward. Report transit damage to us within 48 hours of delivery with photos.
LEGAL TERMS (KENTUCKY COMPLIANT)
Testing and Inspection. All recycled engines and transmissions are inspected and tested against industry standards before shipping.
Limitation of Liability. Under applicable Kentucky state law, including the Kentucky Consumer Protection Act, our liability is limited as permitted by law. Certain indirect or incidental damages may not be covered.
Mileage and Condition Representation. Mileage is documented from the donor vehicle's odometer and disclosed on every quote. Because these are used parts, mileage is accurate to the best of our knowledge but cannot be guaranteed.
Fraud and Documentation. Fraudulent documentation or misrepresentation voids all warranties, return eligibility and claims.
IMPORTANT: The warranty provided by Used Engine Expert LLC is the exclusive remedy to the fullest extent permitted under Kentucky law. All implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, may be limited or disclaimed where legally allowed. If state law does not allow certain exclusions, any implied warranties will last only for the duration of our express limited warranty.
